Easy Hike to the Highest Point in Tennessee

Aug 26, 2013

images-1.jpegAt the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Clingmans Dome is a popular hiking destination for visitors throughout the summer and fall seasons. To experience the beautiful view of the Smoky Mountains, visitors can take a short drive from one of our Gatlinburg chalets and easily make their way to the top of Clingmans Dome.

Many visitors think the hike to Clingmans Dome is unachievable, so lots of visitors miss out on the great view. In fact, families can drive to Clingmans Dome and park. From the parking area, there is a half-mile trail that leads to the observation deck. The steep trail is not extremely strenuous because it is a paved walkway. Once you make it to the observation tower, the stunning views from 6,500 feet are unparalleled.

From the tower, visitors can take a look at the mountains that surround them, taking in the crisp air and relaxing atmosphere. Make sure you pack your camera for your trip to Clingmans Dome because you will definitely want to take pictures of the panoramic view!

At Alpine Chalet Rentals, we offer a variety of Gatlinburg chalets that are perfect for vacationers looking to visit Clingmans Dome. When your family stays in Gatlinburg, there is less of a drive to the Clingmans Dome area and a shorter drive back to your chalet for a relaxing evening.
