Saving money on a vacation is never as easy as it sounds, so we’re here to help you with a few tips to make sticking to your vacation budget easier. You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg when you travel to the Smokies! From affordable transportation to taking advantage of your cabin’s kitchen, there are plenty of ways to save. Here are 4 easy tips for saving money on your Smoky Mountain vacation:

1. Go Sightseeing

The best part of spending time in Gatlinburg is seeing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, right? The national park is free for visitors, so you can take your entire group or family with you into the park for a day hike and make a quick stop at one of the visitors centers. If you happen to stop at Sugarlands Visitor Center, right inside the national park, you can watch a free 20-minute video and explore a small museum and bookshop. You can even park your car right at Sugarlands and take a small walk through the nearby nature trails filled with information about the park.

2. Ride the Trolley

When you’re spending a day or two exploring Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge on your Smoky Mountain vacation, there’s no need to drive your car and pay parking fees. Choose to take a ride on the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge trolley that can pick you up and drop you off at hundreds of locations throughout the area. For a couple dollars, you can buy a day pass that allows you ride throughout the day as often as you’d like. If you’re visiting numerous places, this is definitely the best deal.

3. Plan Your Meals

Although it may be a little difficult, try to plan your meals before arriving to the area. Each of our cabins and chalets in Gatlinburg have a full kitchen, so you can cook meals while you’re on vacation. There’s plenty of grocery stores nearby for any last-minute purchases, but you can even bring your own things with you on your Smoky Mountain vacation. Spend a few nights in your cabin or chalet, enjoying the view and relaxing with a home-cooked meal.
